First week at work
My sweet friends have asked me how it was but I keep giving brief replies especially via SMS because I kind of cannot type long messages on my phone currently cause Im not used to it yet haha its quite annoying cause I cant even multitask now hahaha when I type messages I kind of cannot talk to people or not look and type hahaha
Ok work life! Firstly as everyone knows and have concluded: I have the bestest supervisor in the whole wide world!!!!! He really goes all out to ensure that I learn and is trying to make sure I get the most out of this internship which I really think is amazing and I also mentioned him trying to get me to explore more areas outside his department which MK says describes the best kind of boss because of this selfless act. So Yaye! Really grateful for that. We did lunch on our second day and he is an extremely easy-going person and definitely a great boss to work for unfortunately this is going to be short-lived cause he's moving to another department =[ He gave me honest feedbacks on the interview and my resume and it really helped me a lot because now I know what I need to work on ; my strengths and weakness. I think the most important thing I myself need to determine as soon as possible is what exactly I want because initially I said I was very new to the finance sector and working in a bank environment so I need to decide if banking technology is where I want to go and which department exactly.
Currently Im handling single-handedly alone a project (I know! Its heavy responsibility with great trust from my supervisor) and I basically have a lot of conference calls to make. So far Ive contacted a guy from Hong Kong and spoke to one in person in the office here. Consolidated both of them but then I got a red light from another supervisor of the project so Im pretty freaked out I think I need to wait for my supervisor's advice come Monday. I couldnt get him on Friday cause he was out the whole day. I was feeling the stress on Thursday and Friday cause I was supposed to consolidate everything by Wednesday and Tuesday is a public holiday with training scheduled on Wednesday so yah. Hope everything goes well when I get back to office tomorrow.
But yah everythings going ok been doing a lot of readings anyway to know more about UBS and the departments basically so all's good. I think I dont have much work yet because my department buddy's not here yet. I suppose he'll have more work for me cause most of the other interns usually pester their buddy for work. Talked to my supervisor about my extension as well so hope he remembers to make the request to the interns in charge when that guy comes back. He has already agreed to it so its good =]
And yaye lastly my I came home to a nice surprise on Friday =]
Yes its my first blue box =] I know most people get it on their 21st birthday blah blah but I guess its ok that I get it know anyway cause this necklace I shall wear for the rest of my life =] Well until my rich boyfriend gets me a new hahaha anyway I shall reveal what is inside yet. Wait till my birthday =] I've already seen it but you guys will have to wait haha
Anyway the sweet card says "to our little princess" hehe yes I know my parents are the sweetest. I realised only recently within the year that Im really a princess. Never named myself as one but I realised that I really am. Maybe cause I dont act like Im very spoilt or pampered (well Im hoping I dont haha) Ah love my parents =]
Shall conclude a bit more on work. I just learnt recently that my programme is a very highly sought-after and highly regarded programme. I did not know that!! I thought it was just a normal internship! Now Im even more determined to achieve what I set my mind/heart out to do from the very start. Will update close friends more on details when we meet next =] Remember to ask me. But yes I am extremely thankful for this opportunity. Huge thank you to god and all the suppportive people around me namely family and close friends =] Love you guys.
