CELEBRATE SG50 NEW YEAR'S EVE COUNTDOWN AT THE MARINA BAY FLOATING PLATFORM
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
2014 is over and we welcome 2015 as a fresh new year and start to our lives. I have nothing planned this year but I aim to break the bore and continuity I suffered in the past year as I recovered from my twist and change in life. Thank you Mediacorp for giving my family and I free tickets to the #SG50 celebrations. Something we looked forward to; counting down at the biggest party in Singapore! =)
For the overall relatively positive review first: I really liked the theme we had going on generally as we traversed through time (50 years). Decade at a time BUT they did 2000-2014 as 2000s so that was a bit fast forwarded. I thoroughly enjoyed every section, being able to recognize all the songs from the start. It was embarrassing because I was practically the only one bobbing and singing along to all the songs because everyone else around me was half my age sigh. Of course, my favourite has to be the 1990s, MY ERA! The boyband remix was love =) The take on the shows I grew up with was also nice such as Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang.
The line-up and choice of songs were really good in my opinion but it was a bit lacking in the standard of performers; I guess we are trying to promote the up-and-coming stars but they were simply not skilled or professional enough.
All hail the queens that graced the event: Dato Siti Nurhaliza, Stephanie Sun, Kit Chan, Rahima Rahim =) A pity the rude audience could not appreciate the top-notch acts.
One down point was the Fullerton Hotel laser, pretty as it was; what you saw on TV was not Live; light shows were going on in middle of concerts, distracting us and when they aired the clip on TV, there wasn't nothing going on...I don't understand.
Fireworks was lacking a bit actually, I felt that National Day's was more grand.
Also, thanks to Mr Tony Tan for making an appearance to count us down =)
My favourite picture of the time off the live feed from Paris Ris-Ponggol
And now for the last bit; where most people stumble upon this blog want to read about; your precious Big Bang. Basically, I wanna start off by saying that this is called Celebrate SG50 not Big Bang Concert. But unfortunately, 99% of the audience there were a bunch of uneducated and rude Big Bang fans. Yes, this is the start of my honest take on the attitude of the group of younger teens amongst our society nowadays. So if you belong to these group of people, read down no more because you will get 'offended' and 'angry' and will want to hurl insults at me as a way to 'defend yourself' but trust me, I will simply ignore and not reply because you are simply beneath me. If you have managed to read thus far and fortunately belong to a group of teens who are sensible enough, congratulations. Read on, find the truth in my words, reflect on yourself and hopefully work on being a better person in the new year.
Firstly, note that this is to celebrate 50 years of Singapore, so the target audience group who would enjoy this the most are the older generations. So you young people sitting in the crowd how dare you throw judgmental looks at me and my family. And even more so when I made an effort to enjoy the concert to the fullest. I stood up quite a few times to walk to the railings to take pictures of the world-class artists (not blocking anyone btw) and the fat girl behind me called me a 'slut' and when my mum turned to look she asked 'see what see'. Really, just because I am able to appreciate music apart from kpop I am a slut. Wow. Your parents brought you up well. That aside, the constant bitchy looks and kicking of chairs was annoying. Enough said.
Personal matters aside, the entire group of all thousands of you did not understand the basics of concert etiquette or basic respect at all. The only name they recognized and reacted to was 'Big Bang' and the other performers did not receive the basic respect they deserved standing up there on stage. Ignoring the medicorp acts were one thing but Stephanie Sun had no cheers or sing-alongs. Kit Chan's special stage with Dick Lee did not enjoy the exciting atmosphere after all that hype. I'm sorry but don't schools force you to sing the song "Home" during NDP sessions in school? I guess you're the type that either don't care, skip it or simply don't attend school. Oh if that isn't bad enough, they showed no reaction when our PRESIDENT graced the event. Do you even know who the old man is? Do you know what a president is? Dr Tony Tan is our current president, the most important person in Singapore now. Dato Siti Nurhaliza being the performer before Big Bang got the girls screaming "We want Big Bang" in her face. Total WTF disrespect to the diva, the queen, the voice of Asia. Big Bang may have performed Tokyo Dome but our queen performed at London's Royal Albert Hall. The disgusting running down to the rails and pushing and stepping on chairs just proved your standard as well. My parents were asking me why VIPs were so much more disgusting than ELFs but I did not agree or disagree. Yes we have had less unpleasant experiences but I will put the blame on the younger group of ill-mannered children having suffered bad experiences with a certain fandom consisting of fans most of that age group. Really, never ever be rude to elders. That is basic. I bet you don't even treat your parents with respect and they probably don't even know you are here staying out. Reflect and change.
I really thought to boost ticket sales we should have gotten a big taiwanese artist or even better, get JJ Lin back. At least their fans would know how to respect our big local artists. The fans yesterday were a huge disappointment and they certainly spoilt my night but....
Here are my fancams anyway:
(I dont understand why these poor girls keep blocking me trying to take pictures/videos with their cheap cameras when they could have just fucked off and let me take good videos and upload the HD fancams on youtube *shrugs*)
